shootings
For Amateur Magazine we do a series of city-shootings called ‚we make’ – an update about promising Swiss designers. Therefore a chosen town’s up and coming designers are being asked to bring along one product for a photoshoot. A talented local photographer takes photos and we do interviews, so we can introduce them to you here.

WE MAKE – BERN
April, 2011
For the fourth Swiss city portrait, we take you to the Swiss capital of Bern.
Probably formed by the Bern University of the Arts and the School of Visual Arts in Berne and Biel, most creatives can be found in the area of ceramics, graphic design and the arts. As usual, we picked out some especially interesting designers and labels for you. The Bernese creatives were perfectly staged by combosition.
So here is our selection of up-and-coming designers from Bern:

Cosentino & Spanio
Nicola Enrico Stäubli
Bonu Gati
Judith Nägeli

WE MAKE – GENEVA
October, 2010
For the third Swiss city portrait, we take you to Geneva in the French speaking part of Switzerland. Even though there is the University of Art and Design HEAD, it is quite a challenge to find something like a design scene in Geneva. With the Swiss Porcelain Biannual in Carouge and an influential art scene in Geneva, the creatives see themselves as artists, ceramists or experimentalists rather than as designers.
We asked our selection of designers and artists from Geneva to send in a portrait of themselves with a recent project at their favourite spot in town. Geneva based Illustrator Pascale Favre beautifully outlined the overview.
So here is our selection of up-and-coming designers from Geneva:
Charlotte Nordin
Chloé Peytermann
Julie Usel
Ciani
Muriel Décaillet
Philippe Cramer
Solo-Mâtine
Schönherwehrs

WE MAKE – BASEL
June, 2010
For the Basel shooting, photographer Gina Folly was challenged by a pretty tight timetable. Due to the fact that the chosen installation space was a shop, we needed to be finished within two hours so the shop could open its doors at 10 am.
Set & Sekt is a pretty cool shop for cutting edge fashion and with its minimal interior it offered the perfect setting for our photo shoot. And since Basel is quite well known for its fashion school, the fashion shop suits really well as a background. That is also the reason why we chose more fashion designers this time.
So here is our selection of up-and-coming designers from Basel:
brandnewdesign
Saša Kohler
INCH Furniture
Anita Moser
ZMIK
boycotlettes
IT’S LAUBER

la pomponette

January, 2010
For the first shooting in Zürich, sachenmachen.ch teamed up with photographer Nici Jost.
On a freezing cold day, we visited the impressive construction site of the Toni-Areal, a huge former yogurt-factory that is about to be converted into Zürich University of the Arts (zhdk) which should be ready by 2012.
Of course there is a whole bunch of agile designers in Zürich and we introduce just a few of them:
Aekae
Thilo Brunner
Regula Büchel
Gabriela Chicherio
Fries & Zumbühl
Postfossil
Colin Schaelli
Fabian Schwärzler
